For its first pocket square, Net & Tiedy decided to go even further with the initial Lammassu theme. Hand rolled and crafted in Italy, this pocket square represents the imaginary Hall of an Assyrian palace, as depicted in the painting by Austen Henry Layard in 1849 (currently in the British Museum).

Loyal to our commitment for quality, the pocket square is made of the finest silk and has been produced on the shores of Lake Como, a region famous for its silk craftsmen.

Light pastel colours are used which contrast with the bright gold of the walls and statues ornaments. As a result, this pocket square would perfectly pair with the deep blue of The Assyrian Deity tie and would also bring a light touch of colours on an elegant navy or charcoal suit.

    Faithful to its mission to pay tribute to the Great Civilizations that have built the noble history of the tie, a stop by Croatia is a must.

    The modern tie is a particular dress attribute of a regiment of Croatian hussars created under Louis XIII, whose uniform included a white scarf. Its fashion quickly won the court of France. The French word for tie ("cravate") derives from this origin : a deformation of the word “croate”. In most cases, enemies did not have the chance to see the hussars close enough to admire their ties : their last vision was the pair of wings at the back of their armors. The tie displays this pair of wings - the most recognizable attribute from what was once known as the most fearful cavalry.

    Located in the cradle of the Silk Road, the Assyrian civilization was paramount for the development of the trade of this precious fabric. Protective spirit of the merchant and craftsman, the Lamassu was one of their most important deity.

    Usually represented by pairs at the entrances of palaces, they are often depicted with a human head, the body of a lion and bird wings.

    The tie displays two Lamassus of the ancient mythology on a blue background inspired by the deep blue on the Walls of Babylon, capital city of the Assyrian kings.
